'''Bogus�aw Schaeffer''' (born in 1929, in Lviv)

Studied in Cracow ? composition with A. Malawski and musicology with Z. Jachimecki. In the 50-ties he worked for a short time at the Polish Radio, Polish Music Edition and Institute of Musicology at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow. Since 1963 he has been teaching composition at the Cracow Academy of Music. He is also a professor of composition at the Hochschule f�r Musik ?Mozarteum? in Salzburg. He is the author of many books about new music, among others: Introduction to Composition (1976) and several versions of History of music. He composed around 320 pieces and wrote 29 dramas. He is also active as a graphic artist. Since 1969 around 60 concerts with his music only were organized. The Multimedia Festival of his music, drama and graphics was organized in 1993 in Opole. He received many prizes and awards, among others: 17 prizes for his orchestral and chamber works, the Minister of Culture Award (1971, 1972, 1980), the Polish Composer?s Union Award (1977, 2003), Cracow City Award (1977), The Festival of Polish Drama Award in Wroc�aw for his drama writing (1987).

''Poetries'' is a short electronic work. What is quite untypical for my writing is that I used  a female voice as the main material. This is not a voice of a singer but the voice of the poet, who reads her own poetry. I asked her to read them without  any personal engagement but with the special attention to creating  big emphasis and expression; with deformation, simply speaking. Carol Adler, the author of the poetry understood my idea very well. Thus together with Marek Choloniewski I was able to follow the line of expression magnified by the deformation made by her. Pure electronic music exists in the background, we hear mainly words in different versions: clear, deformed by the author and tranformed by means of electronics.
